Absolute nightmare. When we arrived, they didn’t have our booking. You need to climb up the stairs to the 2nd floor to “check in” and no one is helping. Staff barely speaks any English and they are the most unhelpful people I’ve met working in hospitality. There’s an entire construction site next to the property- be prepared for all day noise and dust. There was a drunk person trying to enter our room at 3am - informed the property manager and I’m yet to get a response a week later. Oh, and the WiFi doesn’t work and also there’s no reception whatsoever. AVOID!!!!!

We enjoyed our stay a lot especially because of the hosts. Matt, Jenny and Pier were really nice and super helpful to book events and support us through it all. We really felt like we were part of the family. Other residents were also nice and everyone vibed nicely. We miss Babalao and the thrill of getting into the room with new bed designs everytime 😅 The staff also did a beautiful job supporting my fiancé to surprise me on my birthday morning 🥰🥰

The receptionists extremely good and very helpful
The receptionists extremely good and very helpful
If you enjoy more of a tourist and party atmosphere this is probably the place for you
I personally prefer the more relaxed atmosphere where the staff are not so ‘on top’ of you
I booked 2 suits unfortunately one was on top of the bar and kitchen so it was quite noisy until midnight
The second suit was bottom floor access to the beach but the beach beds were full of clothes just dumped there
When I mentioned it I was told that it was ok
Not really very good for 2 suits for 500€ a day
Needless to say the next day we changed hotels to a more relaxed one more to my liking
Not to say that the hotel was bad just not for me

Paje is more chill and relaxing than in the north.
Paje is more chill and relaxing than in the north. Best place for kite surfing. The tide can influence the possibility of swimming therefore if you want beach/sun/swimming you better choose north, Kendwa.

Pajde is a small village, BUT you can find everything there.
Pajde is a small village, BUT you can find everything there. ATM, bars, beach kitesurf mostly. If you want to party all night then it might not be your place. If you love watersports and laid-back people then you are in the right spot. Visited Nungwi, but preferred Paje.

On our first day in Paje, the winds were quite strong, making it less suitable for leisure. Most of the local activities centered around kite surfing. So, if you're hoping for calm beachside strolls, Nungwi in the north is a better choice. Additionally, the tidal patterns here differ from what we're used to in the Northern Hemisphere. The tide comes in during the day and recedes in the evening. We once found ourselves stranded on the beach due to the swift rise in tide. It's something to be mindful of if visiting.
Incredible place in the most vibrant village in the south-east coast of Zanzibar. All necessities are easily accessible and in a near proximity, as well as the stunning Paje beach.
The owner is amazingly friendly and helpful, as well as all stuff, they are willing to go an extra mile to make your staying really special and also giving you feeling that this really IS : Your Zanzibar place!!! Superb chilling in the garden and amazing vibes in a bar will also make me come back for sure!
We liked that the rooms are very modern, beautiful and clean. It is difficult in Zanzibar to find something like this at such a price.
The bed was mega comfortable and soft, everything is exactly as in the pictures. The bathroom is very beautiful and awesome mirror is on the wall 😄
They have their own monkey and the child had a lot of fun playing with him. The hotel is located on the beach, so the beach is 1 minute away. I highly recommend going there 🤩
One of the best hostels I've been overall and deffinetelly No1 in Tanzania and Zanzibar. Located in a heart of Paje, near the beach, close to the best party events on island, it has everything you need. It has big place just for chill and read book if you want, it has bar to order food and drinks with convenient prices and fast service, perfect place to meet people and prices for night are very cheap and beds you sleep on are great. Reccomend ⭐️
Mahali Hotel in Zanzibar provided an extraordinary experience in every aspect that mattered. The service was the epitome of hospitality - attentive, warm, and personalized. The venue itself was stunning, offering breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere that made every moment tranquil and memorable. The facilities were top-notch, offering a perfect blend of luxury and comfort, making it an ideal retreat for relaxation.
We love everything about the hotel, but we must mention Ana, the owner who you can find her always around ready to help anybody always and taking care. i would say it’s one of the best hotels in Paje, great location, walking distance everywhere, center of paje for shopping, beach, restaurants.. also the Pool it’s so nice for a chilling day. Beautiful layout and very clean everywhere you look.
The breakfast was tasty. Beach front view of the restaurant is excellent. I spent most of my time there. Very nice staff that became friends like Adam, Mary, Janet, Ben and the whole team in general. Best view I got in my whole stay in Zanzibar. Always go for the beach view room. I could see the ocean from my bed. The best bed I slept in on my whole trip after visiting 2 other hotels.
Nothing good. The hotel does not exist in Paje area even in Google map, We used almost one hour with Taxi driving to search for it, as result the Google Map directed us to Hakuna Majiwe hotel. Very sad story. The telephone number didn't pick up whole hour and made us more furious
n Paje all existing hotels are available in Google Map. Please update its l9cation
Everything was perfect but the aircon not working, was very hard to sleep at night.
Beside that place is amazing , very peaceful, close to the beach, food is INSANILY GOOD!! Best chef in Paje
Everyone is very nice and very helpful, they constantly check on aircon, electricity and fridge but in zanzibar the all situation about power is a bit out of their control.
Everything in this place is fantastic. I had a great time here. The staff care attentively and kindly, always smiling and wanting to help. The hotel’s so clean, and the decor vis mesmerizing. The owner is such a beautiful lady, kindly and down to earth. I booked some excursions with Shebytripzanzibar. booking this place again
Paradise on earth:)))
My second time in Paje. This time I spent 5 lovely days at Kisiwa on the beach for a kitesurfing trip. It was paradise thanks to the amazing kindness team, the great food and the best kitesurfing spot in Paje:) can't wait to come back:)
Greeting from the Netherlands,

Very well maintained, clean and boutique-like property. It was like an oasis in otherwise dirty and noisy Zanzibar. The staff was very welcoming. Granted an early check in and allowed us to store our luggage and shower for our 4pm departure. We really appreciated that!
It's a lovely hotel with spacious and tidy rooms, daily cleaning service, pool, kite surf center, 1 restaurant located on the beach, so many other bars and restaurants at walking distance. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a budget holiday with comfort.
The staff are amazing and friendly! It is in the perfect location. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The included breakfast is amazing and the whole atmosphere around the hotel and kite school is perfect for a Zanzibar holiday!
THE BEST HOTEL YOU CAN EVER FIND !

I really loved the ambiance that the hostel has and the people that are there. It is wonderfully located and is a hidden paradise in zanzibar. The Food is amazing and unique. Really is the best place to stay on Paje, Zanzibar.
The situation is not far from the center of Paje, the pool very beautifull, the hotel is well secured. The manager and hi staff do the best to give to their guess a top expérience of Zanzibar
